Allmänt
Also known as an Igbo drum, this nice-and-deep-sounding udu by Schlagwerk is 28cm high and has a 25cm diameter. It comes complete with a black supporting base so it remains stable while it's played.
The Udu
Traditionally played by the Igbo people of Nigaria, udu is the Igbo word for pot, which is literally what it is. This percussive pot shapes a distinctively deep sound and makes for a highly versatile instrument in the hands of any advanced percussionist. The sound can be varied by changing the speed with which you hit the hole in the side while your other hand controls the size of the opening in the top to adjust the pitch. With the right technique, it's even possible to pull out subtle ghost notes.

Klinkt heel mooi en speelt prettig. Aan de binnekant zaten bij aankomst een klein beetje afgebrokkelde potscherven, wat mij even bezorgd maakte, maar ik denk niet dat ie gaat barsten eigenlijk. Wellicht is dit normaal.
